On Saturday 9th July 2022, we were delighted to welcome our shortlisted Orwell Youth Prize entrants to University College London, for our first in-person Celebration Day since 2019!
The shortlistees participated in political writing workshops led by former Orwell Prize winning author, Dee Jarrett-Macauley, and 2022 Orwell Prize shortlisted journalist, Ria Chatterjee. They also shared extracts from their shortlisted writing with an audience of parents, guardians, family members, writers and staff and trustees from the Orwell Foundation.
All shortlisted writers received a certificate and Orwell prize bag, including Orwell’s Collected Essays, generously donated by Penguin books, and a copy of the Orwell Youth Fellows’ zine on the climate crisis, ‘Axial Tilt’ – available to purchase here.
